Dear EBS Families,
Welcome to EBS! My name is Mary Offord and I am thrilled to be a Kindergarten teacher here at EB Scripps! I’ve been teaching Kindergarten or First grade since 1989 (yes that long). I’ve been at Ellen Browning Scripps since 2003. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. As the fourth daughter of a Naval Officer, I moved many times and lived in many places attending 8 schools K-12. School has always been a stabilizing and comforting environment for me. I furthered my education at San Diego State University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree and Elementary Teaching Credential. I later attended U.S.I.U. where I earned my Master’s Degree.
I currently live in Scripps Ranch with my husband Bruce. We have two grown sons Mathew and Trevor who both attended EBS, as well as, Marshall and Scripps Ranch High School. I enjoy traveling, watching baseball and spending time with a large extended family here in San Diego.
I look forward to a great year with a new set of Kindergarten Penguins! We will build a community of learners that value our differences, value our friendships and learn from each other! After all of these years, I’m still amazed at the amount of emotional and academic growth a Kindergartener can make during one school year! GO PENGUINS!

Dear Kindergarten Families,
My name is Diana Zachek and I am a bilingual, native German educator whose goal is to create a welcoming classroom environment for all and to support each learner in reaching their full educational potential. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Muenster, Germany. After graduating I taught in both public and private schools in North Carolina and New Jersey. For the last two years I have been working as a visiting teacher at EBS in all grade levels.
My husband and I moved to San Diego in 2016 and we are thrilled to raise our two children in the wonderful community of Scripps Ranch. I love going to the beach, hiking and exploring the many great restaurants the area has to offer. I am excited to be a part of the Penguin Family and look forward to a successful school year!
